Autonomous
Ocean Surveillance

Founded by Frederik Søndergaard Hansen and Simon Hviid, who previously worked together at Ørsted where Frederik co-invested the offshore wind industry's first un-crewed surface vessel programme from concept to commercial operation. STORMBORN now pushes autonomous maritime technology further—purpose-built for the dual challenge of defending Europe's vulnerable undersea infrastructure from hybrid threats and transforming offshore wind and oil & gas data acquisition by eliminating costly vessel mobilisations.

Continuous operation capability through STORMBORN's autonomous anchoring system - staying on-station through North Sea storms while conventional vessels retreat to port, eliminating weather downtime.

+150M

Water depth where X-WAVE will be able to anchor and operate autonomously—accessing deep-water offshore wind farms and pipeline routes that leave competitors stuck in shallow waters.

225k KM

Critical undersea infrastructure in Baltic and North Sea waters (power cables, data cables, pipelines) requiring monitoring amid escalating hybrid threats.

900M DKK

Denmark's 2025 allocation for Critical Undersea Infrastructure protection, demonstrating government commitment to the autonomous maritime surveillance capabilities STORMBORN provides.

MISSION: Deliver persistent autonomous surveillance for Europe's critical undersea infrastructure and offshore operations.

Europe has 225,000 kilometers of undersea cables and pipelines in the Baltic and North Sea increasingly vulnerable to sabotage, with recent incidents proving the threat is real. Crewed vessels can't maintain continuous watch through winter storms. Traditional monitoring is episodic, leaving critical infrastructure exposed.

STORMBORN's X-WAVE platform addresses this through patent-pending S-BOW hull design and autonomous anchoring system—purpose-built to hold position in conditions that send other vessels to port, operating in 150+ meter depths. The platform serves dual-use applications across defence and commercial markets.

SEAFENCE addresses defence applications—continuous monitoring of critical infrastructure against hybrid threats. Resident-on-Site Survey serves commercial offshore markets, enabling wind and oil & gas operators to collect data without repeatedly deploying support vessels.

Working with Semco Maritime's offshore engineering and production facilities for Danish manufacturing, STORMBORN is moving X-WAVE from demonstrator to operational capability as NATO elevates Critical Undersea Infrastructure protection to strategic priority and Denmark commits 900M DKK to address the challenge.
