Robotto Establishes Ukrainian Subsidiary to Develop Drone Software at the Front Line

Aalborg, Denmark – 05 March 2026 – In Ukraine’s ongoing fight for freedom and independence, drones play a decisive role on the battlefield. Here, the Danish company Robotto contributes with advanced drone software that functions as the drone’s “brain,” enabling the automatic identification of enemy soldiers and other targets – even in complex environments.

This means that the drones can operate more autonomously, with a reduced need of human involvement, respond more rapidly, and strike with greater precision at the front line. At the same time, Robotto’s software makes the drones more resilient to jamming, which poses a significant challenge in modern warfare.

According to Kenneth Richard Geipel, Co-Founder and CCO of Robotto, this type of technology can only be developed effectively through close collaboration with those who use it in practice:

”Ukraine is the epicenter of military drone innovation. If we want to develop technology that performs under the most demanding conditions, we must be present where our software is being deployed. With Robotto UA, we anchor our development within the Ukrainian ecosystem and contribute to Ukraine in the war against Russia – while at the same time strengthening capabilities that are also vital for Denmark and our NATO allies.”

The operational anchoring in Ukraine is also crucial for the investor Final Frontier:

"Final Frontier invests in companies that strengthen the military capacity and deterrence of Denmark and Europe. Europe must Lead again! One of the key areas is drone technology. We have followed Robotto for a while and are impressed with the founders and their team. Robotto's software for autonomy, guidance and targeting in drones and counter drones is daily being battle proven in Ukraine and is seen as world leading. But that position is not given - it requires speed, capital, and the determination to push development all the way to the front line. With this investment we help establish Robotto in Ukraine so the technology development can stay ahead by being closer to the frontline with faster iterations. This is an important contribution to Ukraine’s war efforts and the technology developed will strengthen Denmark and NATO within this key area," says Niels Vejrup Carlsen, Founding Partner, Final Frontier.

Investment in European safety and resilience

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion, Robotto has collaborated with Ukrainian drone manufacturers and operational units. The partnership began when a former Danish soldier with ties to Ukraine contacted the company with a request to deploy the technology at the front line.

This marked the start of an intensive development process in direct cooperation with Ukrainian partners – an effort that is today supported by Danish Export and Investment Fund (EIFO), focusing on strengthening both Ukraine’s resilience and Denmark’s long-term security interests.

“We have known Robotto since 2022, when they received a growth loan from us. I am pleased to see how they are now taking an ambitious and bold step into Ukraine. I hope that Robotto’s advanced software will benefit the local drone products while also securing Danish access to valuable frontline experience. This is precisely the intention of EIFO’s investment guarantee in Ukraine, where we enable companies to enter a highly uncertain, yet extremely exciting market,” says Peder Lundquist, CEO of EIFO.

The technology is based on the same fundamental software that has previously been used in civilian contexts – including for identifying and rescuing animals during wildfires. The experience gained from these applications has been further developed and adapted for use under far more demanding conditions at the front line.

The establishment of Robotto UA is a natural next step in the company’s work in Ukraine. With a permanent local presence, development, testing, and implementation can take place in close dialogue with the units and manufacturers that use the technology in practice – and exactly where the needs arise.

Software for the safety of Europe

  • Robotto’s software has been developed with interoperability as a core principle. This means the system is designed to integrate with existing drone platforms and the ways they are already used – across manufacturers and countries. In practice, the software can therefore be applied to multiple types of drones without extensive modifications. This is crucial for NATO countries, where joint operations require technology to function seamlessly across borders.

  • Experiences and feedback from Robotto’s Ukrainian subsidiary are continuously incorporated into further development. Operational experience from the front line strengthens the company’s “interoperability by design” approach and helps enhance the robustness of systems used in precision operations.

  • By incorporating interoperability from the outset, Robotto reduces implementation time, simplifies training, and enables rapid scaling of the solution across platforms, countries, and alliances – thereby supporting NATO’s overall resilience.

About Robotto

Founded by engineers from Aalborg University, Robotto builds autonomy software for unmanned systems. Built around the Robotto Autonomy OS — a platform-agnostic operating system for drones and unmanned vehicles — Robotto’s software enables autonomous target recognition, navigation, and mission execution without GPS or continuous operator control, in the exact environments where conventional systems fail. The technology has been operationally deployed alongside Ukrainian frontline units since 2022 and was selected for NATO DIANA 2026, chosen among 150 companies from 3,680 submissions across 24 NATO nations. Through its Ukrainian subsidiary Robotto UA, established with support from Final Frontier and EIFO, frontline feedback flows directly into product development — compressing iteration cycles that would otherwise take years. www.robotto.ai
